The project aims to provide free speech therapy services to refugee children in their native language in Istanbul who have been affected by traumatic events, such as war and migration. By offering these services, the project will help children overcome speech and language disorders, enabling them to regain their self-confidence, access education, and engage in social activities.
Many refugee kids experience speech and language disorders as a result of traumatic experiences or genetic factors. These disorders hinder their ability to succeed in school, form friendships, and engage with their community. Financial constraints make it impossible for many families to afford the necessary speech therapy, leaving these kids without critical support. Currently, 87 kids in need of speech therapy are on a waiting list due to financial limitations.
Since 2021, Multeciler ve Sgnmaclar Yardmlasma ve Dayansma Dernegi has provided free speech therapy services to 223 refugee kids in their native language, thanks to resources from various institutions. The project aims to expand services to reach the 87 refugee kids on the waiting list. By offering speech therapy in their native language, the project will help refugee kids overcome their speech and language disorders, fostering their development and integration.
Providing speech and language therapy to refugee kids the project will have a profound and lasting impact on the community. These children will gain the ability to communicate effectively, enhancing their educational performance and social interactions. In the long run, they will be better prepared to contribute positively to society, unlocking their full potential and enriching the community with their voices and ideas.
