Spring has transitioned into Summer and the first wave of babies into toddlers, tweeners and teenagers (or in our case, kits, cubs, and fledglings) It has been a very busy season as the number of injured and orphaned animals that we have worked hard to care for is already close to last years total - with four months to go! It has also been a season of adventure, with a group of raccoons being delivered while roaming free in the pickup truck they arrived in (not a good idea for oh so many reasons!) and quite a few escape artists in the nursery that led to a few games of hiding and seek, all with happy endings. The diversity we see is also amazing, with spring rescues of a gorgeous hognose snake deeply tangled in garden netting, a number of baby Screech Owls and a beautiful baby Kestral along with a Yellow-billed Cuckoo. Every day is an adventure and a learning experience, with the payoff for it all coming with the release back into the wild for our honored guests!
As always, everything you do to help us help wildlife is greatly appreciated - by our humans and animals alike!
