Yemen: Emergency aid for displaced persons

One of the world's worst humanitarian disasters continues to play out in Yemen, where 24 million people, about 80 percent of the population, are in need of aid and protection. The country is home to more than 2.5 million displaced people and is on the brink of famine. In addition to war, displacement and economic decline, repeated flooding and the spread of diseases such as cholera, dengue and malaria are compounding the people's plight.

This is how we work

  • A fish breeding station is established on the coast south of Hudaydah. 150 women are trained in fish farming and feed production. 320 fishermen as well as 50 multipliers are also being trained and are engaged in fish farming in two fish farms during the pilot phase.
  • We support the nutritional situation of displaced households with solar stoves and solar dryers. For example, 1,100 families are receiving solar stoves so that they can prepare meals independently of firewood or fossil fuels. In addition, 500 families will receive solar dryers. In these, food such as fish or fruit can be dried hygienically and preserved for longer.
  • The producers are paid for their products and generate additional income that promotes the economic cycle of the beneficiaries. In total, 51,050 people benefit directly from the aid measures.

The need is great, therefor i'm so thankful for your support!

Yours

Michael Tuerk
