Progress report on give a gift of education

A Volunteer teaching the Orphans

It is my pleasure to report that this project has been the most active one within this period.  We received volunteers from the UK who came in to work in this project.  They taught English, Mathematics and Business Mathematics within the months of July and August.

We selected all the Orphaned and vulnerable children who had learning difficulties and also invited others from other institutions around Kumbo and brought together for  holiday classes.

During the holiday classes, they and the volunteers participated in the construction project which is aimed at improving their learning environment in terms of infrastructures.

One of the volunteers Mr. Caluum Vimpany was practically involved in the identification of the orphaned who have just completed primary school.  We are working on the list at the moment preparing  to admit them for this academic year.   The work that he did has again created some awareness and interest among our communities to identify and direct more of such cases to us.  As such we hope to increase the number this year.

This time volunteers through original volunteers have indicated to teach in this institution come September and the quality of training is also going to be improved.

The below pictures shores Mr. David correcting a test and a cross section of some of the volunteers and a group pictures with one of the classes.

Final Year Class.  Eight of them sat for the G.C.E. and Seven of them  passed.  I am glad that  support given to these children has gone a long way to restore hope in them, and hence achieving our goal.

We thank those who have been supporting this project and assuring those who are yet to do so to rest assured that their hard earned money is being used accordingly on these children. This is a lovely project to support.
