We BELIEVE in coaching that empowers youth and children. Coach in a Box assists underserved communities to uplift themselves by creating social impact jobs for local youth who work as Academic (Literacy or Numeracy), Sport (Rugby, Netball), or Empowerment (Psychosocial) coaches in primary schools thus ensuring everyone has access to quality education, sporting, and personal wellness opportunities.
The Eastern Cape is one of the most impoverished provinces in South Africa. - The unemployment rate of 52.4% reported in 2023. - Recent studies show that 81% of Grade 4 learners are illiterate. - Two in every five public schools do not have sporting facilities. - Gangs, substance abuse and crime are a reality for youth in townships.
Coach in a Box is a holistic, school-based intervention model. This children-empowerment program incorporates sport, learning and wellness interventions to underserved, township schools. CIAB has three developmental outcomes: 1) Youth Employment CIAB empowers local youth with social impact jobs. 2) Sport and Academic Coaching Coaches provide customised school-based support sessions. 3) Psychosocial support These empowerment coaches equip learners with long-term coping skills.
CIAB aims to cultivate a generation of thriving individuals in underserved communities. By combining sport, academic coaching, and psychosocial support, CIAB can lead to long-term social and economic benefits for youth and children, including: - Increased employability - Improved academic performance - Enhanced emotional well-being
