Summary: Old Age is undoubtedly an accursed lot when the organs of the human body fail to perform their function properly. The youngsters are distancing themselves from the elderly and society. Some are guilty of not just indifference but also abusing them aggressively in many forms - psychological, financial exploitation and neglecting their basic needs of food & shelter. SHEOWS provides free food, accommodation, medical care (Medicines, Doctors, Physiotherapy) and rehabilitation of elderly.
The problem of abandoning of elderly has rapidly increased across India. Elderly are suffering from various mental problems such as Alzheimer's and Dementia. The physical problem includes paralysis, bed sores, fractures and maggot infestation. Most of the elderly suffering from the above ailments are abandoned on the roadsides, footpaths, parks, hospitals and train stations. Many are tortured and beaten to such an extent that they become disabled & eventually end up on roads and Die.
From past 15 Years, the Organisation is working on the cause of saving the elderly who are dying on the roadsides, footpaths etc. As presently there are no old age homes for paralytic, disabled and bedridden elderly. We provide free of cost ICU care, 24/7 Doctors and nurses, Physiotherapy lab, Lifts for elderly, Pathology lab and X-ray monitoring, Medicines, Fresh and hygienic food. We have sheltered over 4000 elderly individual, 1410 people have been rehabilitated and sent to their own homes.
The Old Age Home acts as a safe haven for all the neglected and abandoned elderly who still get a chance on life. We do awareness campaigns with school and college students about Alzheimer's and Dementia to nurture the feeling of responsibility they should have towards their grand parents. We also have a rescue team which constantly picks up elderly and tries to cure and rehabilitate them. Our team works tirelessly to reunite the elderly with their families by locating & counselling them.
