Many sickle cell patients in underserved communities struggle to afford hospital visits, blood tests, medications, and emergency care needed to stay alive. This project will provide financial assistance to children and adults living with sickle cell disease, helping them access treatment, reduce pain crises, and improve their quality of life. Support from donors will also help vulnerable families manage the heavy cost of long term care.
Sickle cell disease remains a major health challenge in Nigeria, with more than 38,000 deaths recorded in 2019 alone. In many low income communities, patients cannot afford hospital visits, blood transfusions, medications, or routine tests. Thousands of children and adults suffer repeated pain crises and preventable complications because their families lack money for proper treatment and care.
This project will provide financial assistance to sickle cell patients who cannot afford proper medical care. Support from donors will help cover hospital visits, medications, blood tests, emergency treatment, and blood transfusions for vulnerable children and adults. The project will also help reduce severe pain crises, prevent avoidable complications, and improve access to regular treatment for patients from low income families.
Long term support for sickle cell patients will improve access to treatment, reduce preventable complications, and lower deaths linked to untreated sickle cell disease. Financial assistance for hospital care, medications, blood tests, and emergency treatment will also reduce the burden on struggling families. With better medical support, more children and adults living with sickle cell disease will remain healthier and continue school, work, and daily activities.
