Recycled Tire Sandals for the children of Kay Angel Orphanage!

By Julie Colombino | CEO

Kay Angel Orphanage
Kay Angel Orphanage

In the past 3 months, your support and love has provided 77 orphan and street children with recycled tire sandals!  It is hard to explain the look on a child’s face when they receive a sandal that they know was made in Haiti from tires collected off their streets.  The kids are literally in awe at the thought of recycling and using something old to make something new and beautiful.  It has been a privilege to watch this reaction.

In this GlobalGiving report, we would like to highlight an organization who has gone above and beyond just providing sandals to kids in need.  The {Heart} Change Project is an organization that is interested in changing hearts, living a life of purpose and understanding that one small act of kindness can change someone’s entire life and future.  They held a fundraiser on behalf of the children of Kay Angel Orphanage in Jacmel, a home that cares for young children with HIV/AIDS and other disabilities.
With the money raised, the The {Heart} Change Project was able to support economic development and sustainable change in Haiti by purchasing new sandals from Rebuild Globally for the children.  This allowed both projects, Kay Angel and Rebuild Globally to do what they do best in Haiti and work towards a health and sustainable Haiti.

Thank you to The Heart Change Project, Kay Angel Orphanage and all the individuals who have supported this project and REBUILD Globally.  Together we are able to make lasting impacts in the lives of Haitian earthquake survivors and children in need.

 In solidarity,

Julie
