When we started the project in February, REBUILD globally was aware there was a need for sandals at several orphanages in Port-au-Prince. By giving to this project, you have helped fill that need. The sandals the orphans received were not just a want, they were a need. By wearing sandals it can reduce the risk of these children contracting parasites and worms in the future. Not to mention protecting their feet from the treacherous streets of Haiti.
Not only have 20 orphans received new sandals due to your generosity, but also, together with your help, REBUILD was able to donate the sandals and employ 8 artisans. In the process of making the sandals, we are able to provide living wage employment opportunities for Haiti's most vulnerable populations to foster self-sufficiency and independent living; and reduce waste in Haiti through creative re-purposing of tires. We have turned old tires into new sandals.
Thank you again for your donation. We look forward to helping employ more people and give more sandals to orphans. One way we can do this is by you sharing REBUILD with your friends and family. Please visit our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/#!/REBUILDglobally and 'like us' and suggest us to your friends too!
With love from Haiti,
Julie
