We just received news that all of our Palestinian campers, including Sara, received their visas to come to the peace camp in the USA this summer. This was an important obstacle to overcome and your donations helped get us there.
We are also excited that Paola Gianturco, best-selling author and photographer, will be coming to camp this year to photograph our work. Paola has a heart connection to Israel and Palestine, having featured Machsom Watch (Checkpoint Watch) in her book GRANDMOTHER POWER: A Global Phenomenon. Machsom Watch is an organization of 400 Jewish Israeli grandmothers, all peace activists, who monitor military checkpoints in the West Bank, through which Palestinians must commute daily. We share a peace connection with this organization, and are grateful that Creativity for Peace is part of a “rising tide” of peace activism in the region, and throughout the world.
Good news too: WE REACHED OUR OPEN CHALLENGE GOAL of raising $5,000 from 40 unique donors in just four weeks! In fact we raised $7,163 from 87 donors. Our overall goal is $8,400. We are just $1,237 short. Thank you for helping get us this far.
We have an incentive for you to help get us to the stretch goal. Make a donation and share you good work with your social network between now and 15th June and you will be entered into a drawing to receive one of two signed copies of Paola’s book, GRANDMOTHER POWER: A Global Phenomenon. The book is beautiful, heart warming and inspiring – just like our campers!
