Give An Education To A Trash Picker's Child

Last month, teachers and parents gathered to celebrate a joyful and significant milestone—the graduation of the Rumah Belajar XSProject Kindergarten students. With support from  XSProject, these young learners reached their first big step toward a bright future.

The children arrived with big smiles, wearing their best clothes. The event was filled with excitement—singing, dancing, poetry recitations, and the special moment when each child proudly received their diploma, symbolizing the beginning of their educational journey.

“This event showcases what the children have learned and helps them build confidence performing in front of an audience. More importantly, it reflects our hope that these children will continue their education to the highest level possible. This milestone is just the beginning.”, said Fani, Principal of Rumah Belajar XSProject Kindergarten

One proud parent, Rina, shared her feelings:
“I feel very proud seeing my child experience things I never had the chance to. All the teachers here are kind and patient. Since starting at Rumah Belajar XSProject Kindergarten, my child has become smarter. Thanks to the XSProject, my child can enjoy moments like today. I am so grateful to be part of this community and to see my child’s future brighten. Thank you again XSProject.”

As the school year progresses, our children from kindergarten through college are now entering the second half of their academic journey. They are embracing daily attendance, preparing for mid-term exams, and participating in various activities at their schools.

During the month of Ramadhan, we are excited to continue providing activities that foster community spirit, especially in the afternoons leading up to the Idul Fitri holiday, where we gather for break-fasting moments.

In light of our previous report on the eviction of 21 families, the XSProject team has taken steps to support those affected. We organized distributions of staple food bags and visited each family to assess their new living conditions. Our goal was to understand their feelings and well-being following the eviction, as well as to learn about their hopes for the future.

Many families expressed a desire to start anew but feel uncertain about how to do so. A significant challenge they face is finding suitable land to store the trash they collect before selling it. In response, XSProject is offering various forms of assistance, including new carts, water reservoirs, and help with repairing bathrooms at their new homes.
