Thanks for your generous support which will give more kids access to education! Every child has the right to education, yet several million children in Angola still do not have the chance to go to school. Participation in GlobalGiving's July 20th Bonus Day wonderfully multiplied the impact - $19,150 was donated to RISE, with an additional $3,000 in matching funds from GlobalGiving (the max for each organization), totaling $22,150 raised! Those generous gifts will give 63 children the opportunity to go to school, not just once the school is built, but each year going forward.
We are raising funds to help complete a school at Lalula, in the Huila Province. The population in the area is approximately 8,500, with hundreds of children in need of safe and appropriate classrooms. The school property is large, and many primary-age students attend in the 9 existing classrooms, with others learning in shipping containers and 15 makeshift classrooms. In 2017, as part of the Initiative of the Commission of Parents and Guardians, 6 classrooms and bathrooms were started, but funds ran out. With a total of 5,333 students from kindergarten to grade 6, the Ministry of Education, parents, and community are committed to giving these children access to education, however the school faces many difficulties and cannot accommodate them. They approached RISE, advocating for their children, and we are committed to partner to complete the school. Thanks for your part!
