Deaf Welfare Awareness Foundation (DWAF) provides education and skills training to Deaf children at its Sahiwal Learning Centre. As enrollment has grown, our existing rickshaw can no longer safely accommodate all students, with some having to stand or sit overcrowded. We are raising funds to purchase a second rickshaw so Deaf children can travel safely and comfortably to and from school every day-helping them attend classes regularly and continue their education.
Deaf people in Pakistan face major barriers to education, employment, communication and social participation. Limited access to Pakistan Sign Language, quality education and vocational training leaves many Deaf children and adults excluded from opportunities. Deaf women and girls are especially vulnerable to isolation, exploitation and abuse. DWAF works to address these barriers across 25 cities.
DWAF will provide Deaf children, youth and adults with accessible digital and vocational skills training using Pakistan Sign Language. Participants will gain practical skills, confidence and career guidance to pursue employment, freelancing or income-generating opportunities. The project will also promote inclusion and awareness, helping Deaf people communicate, participate and live more independently.
The project will help Deaf beneficiaries become more skilled, confident and economically independent. With better access to education and employment, participants can support themselves and their families and contribute to their communities. Trained Deaf individuals can also become role models and share their skills with others, helping create a more inclusive and empowered Deaf community across Pakistan.
