The impact on the economy from the Covid pandemic has meant that many more people are without work and this has driven an increase in the crime rate. Our village is situated within walking distance from an informal settlement where there are many unemployed folk living and so we are also a target for criminals from this area. Hence the need for good security for our children, mums and staff is even more urgent than ever before.
In our last report on the security wall, I mentioned that we were hoping to have the wall completed by the end of March. We have made good progress, but have not quite completed the final details. The good news is that the security gates (pedestrian and vehicle) have all been installed so we are now able to keep the village area so much safer at night and during the day. We are truly grateful to each and every person who has donated to help with the building of the wall. Our children are already feeling so much safer at night and our hearts are at peace.
Our builders are now working on the concrete capping for the top of the wall and when that is done, we will still need to install either spikes or 3 strands of razor wire fencing on the top to prevent anyone from climbing over the wall.
So we still need your help. We are looking for funding to purchase the necessary hardware and wire/spikes to ensure that our wall is "climb-proof". Please help us to keep our children safe by making a donation.
