Over the last 6 months the Act4Africa team in Mayuge, Uganda have been setting up community groups where girls and young women can meet together and support each other. Prossy is a 21 year old girl who has been part of that process this is her story
"Growing up in an extended family where most consideration and privileges where given to boys like going to school, deciding on what they want and having a say on issues to do with our family was too challenging. Due to that, I grew up with an inferiority complex always looking up to boys and not able to make an independent decision on my own. Very many times, i have been undermined by other people that I can’t do anything simply because am a girl.
However, after Act4Africa training, am a different person with abilities to stand on my own and express my feelings to other about what I want as individual .The training has given me the belief that I have the capacity to reach where I want to go and ability to decide on issues to do with my life
I feel so blessed having been part of this training and I thank Act4africa for the opportunity given to me. I will endeavour to empower other young girls around me and within my community"
Thank you so much for helping us to help these young girls and women with your support we are able to bring a brighter future to Africa's poor.
