We are proud to report back to you that 87% of our 168 Girl's passes last year! That's in comparison to the 76% national average. It's even more impressive when you consider that most university students in South Africa come from middle and upper-income families and thus have food every day, all their textbooks, and live on campus.
While we have 48 girls sponsored to live on campus, the remaining 120 are studying from afar in the townships. We are extremely proud of them and are sure you are as well!
Some of you may remember Thuto from a previous newsletter (or her trip to America). We are excited to announce that she willing be joining our staff in 2018! While her largest responsibility will be mentoring first year students, she'll also be assisting me in pulling together inspiring stories about the girls to share with all of you. So be on the look out :)
As always, a huge 'thank you' for all the love, support, and generosity that everyone contributes towards investing in these girls' futures. On behalf of them and their families, we express our deepest gratitudes.
Sincerely,
Jim
