When I finished my studies, I had nothing to do, so my father tried to force me to get married. Now, I learn a lot, especially about issues related to girls. I have taken these teachings to the girls in my community,” said Ataro.
Like many girls in her area, once Ataro finished school, she didn’t have many paths forward. But our Girls Parliament changed Ataro’s life.
“The dialogue changed the way I look at my future. Before I was very limited, I almost had no dreams because I thought that I was incapable. Since I started participating in the program, I put those thoughts aside and now I dream of being a teacher and I believe that I will fulfill this dream to make my family even more proud,” Ataro shared.
Ataro's experience as a girl change agent has not only given her the chance to create a life of her own choosing but she also empowers other young women and girls in her community through the dialogues.
