Over the past reporting period, Empowering Girls’ Future Without Child Marriage (59208) has continued to protect, educate, and uplift adolescent girls at risk of early marriage. Through community sensitization sessions, mentorship programs, and school retention support, the project reached 124 girls across targeted communities. Of these, 37 girls identified as high-risk received direct mentorship and family engagement support, helping them remain in school and delay early marriage pressures. Additionally, two community dialogue forums were held with parents, traditional leaders, and faith representatives to address the long-term economic and health consequences of child marriage.
One participant, Grace (name changed for privacy), had been facing pressure to leave school for marriage due to financial strain at home. Through family mediation and school support provided by the project, she continues her education and recently completed her term examinations with improved results. Her teachers report increased confidence and active classroom participation. Stories like hers reflect the powerful shift that occurs when girls are given protection, voice, and opportunity instead of early responsibility.
Beyond individual cases, the project is building sustainable community awareness. Parents and guardians have shown greater willingness to prioritize education over early marriage, and local leaders have expressed commitment to reinforcing protective norms. While challenges remain in areas affected by poverty and social pressure, this initiative continues to strengthen protective networks around vulnerable girls. Each girl who remains in school represents not only a delayed marriage—but a strengthened future, expanded opportunity, and renewed hope for generational change.
