Dear friends,
Warm greetings from Kawama Slum in Ndola, Zambia. Thanks to support from kind people like you, our work with vulnerable girls is actively breaking the cycle of poverty and early marriage. At Lotus Flower Community School, we are currently keeping hundreds of at-risk girls in class instead of in forced marriages, including girl-orphans and those from extremely poor households. Through daily lessons, mentoring sessions, and safe spaces to talk, girls are learning about their rights, the importance of education, and how to make informed choices about their bodies and futures. Many of the girls who once feared being married off as children are now talking about finishing school, getting a job, and supporting their families with dignity.
Your support is also helping us provide practical skills that make girls stronger and more resilient. Alongside education and reproductive health awareness, some girls are learning tailoring, gardening, and catering so they can earn an income and prove their value beyond bride price. In a community where child marriage is still common, every girl who stays in school becomes a powerful example to her younger sisters and neighbors. Our dream is to see hundreds more girls complete secondary school and become ambassadors to end child marriage in Kawama and beyond. Thank you for standing with these girls — your kindness is protecting their childhoods and opening doors to a future filled with hope.
