Girls need education to stop early marriages

By Geoffrey Mulenga | Project Leader

Summary of Activities
Since our last report, our initiative to prevent early marriages through education has made remarkable progress. Thanks to the support of our donors, we have been able to enroll more girls in school, provide essential educational materials, and conduct awareness campaigns in the community. These efforts aim to break the cycle of early marriage by empowering young girls with knowledge and opportunities.

Impact Story
One of the beneficiaries, a 13-year-old girl, was at risk of being forced into marriage due to financial hardships at home. With the intervention of our program, she received a scholarship covering her school fees, uniform, and learning materials. Today, she is excelling in her studies and dreams of becoming a teacher. Her journey is a testament to how education can change lives and give girls a future beyond early marriage.

Progress and Achievements

  • Educational Support: Over 150 girls have received school supplies and tuition assistance to continue their education.

  • Community Workshops: We have conducted three community sensitization workshops on the dangers of child marriage and the importance of girls’ education, reaching over 500 parents and guardians.

  • Mentorship and Advocacy: Our mentorship program now includes 20 role models who provide guidance and motivation to young girls, helping them stay in school and resist societal pressures for early marriage.

Looking Ahead
We are preparing for the next phase of the program, which includes expanding our outreach to neighboring communities and strengthening partnerships with local schools. Additionally, we will be participating in GlobalGiving’s upcoming matching campaign to ensure sustained support for our initiative.

Thank you for being a part of our mission to keep girls in school and put an end to early marriages. Your support is transforming lives and securing a brighter future for young girls in vulnerable communities.
