Report on Girls-Friendly Toilet

By Basant Kunwar | CEO

We are planning to build girl friendly toilets in various schools of Nepal country, Bagmati Province of Kavrepalanchok District. The project area is located in a rural (hard to reach) area of the Kavrepalanchok district. It takes a day to reach there by walking. There are no transportation facilities. The students there used to go to the open field and in bushes to defecate in the beginning. However, due to awareness of the government, toilets were made in the education institutions but the devastating earthquake that hit Nepal destroyed all the toilets. Therefore, we have planned to build girls friendly toilets in the schools of Mahabharat Rural Municipality at Banakhu village. The student's education is hampered due to the absence of toilets. Moreover, it has mainly affected the girls. The girls do not have an appropriate place to defecate. Hence, the number of dropouts is increasing highly. The student number is reduced greatly only because of the absence of the toilet. So, we have planned to build toilets and increase the enrollment. This will increase the number of girl students. It will also make the situation of girl's education better in the community. It will also contribute to the development of the community. This action will also promote sanitation and hygiene .Thus, we are planning to build girls friendly and earthquake resilient toilets in the schools. Under the destroyed building also falls the building of the toilets. The toilet buildings are not usable. Our goal is to build earthquake resilient and girl's friendly toilets at the places of destruction, which are far better than the ones which used to be there.
