The young women participating in the Kasiisi Project just keep excelling! Not only are they excelling in school attendance, in part because of the Kasiisi Project Sanitary Project, but they are also excelling in academia !
For example, the Kasiisi Spelling Bee team and the Komyamperre student who won the regional Rutooro Spelling Bee traveled to Kampala last weekend to compete and be recognized in the National Spelling Bee. Spellers’ families, teachers, and Kasiisi staff traveled to Kampala as well to support Reagan, Gloria, Daphine, and Gorret. The Kasiisi team made it to the second-to-last round, successfully spelling words like cellular, hoist, and oxymoron, among others. We are so happy the spellers’ families were able to travel to Kampala to witness their children in action! Our Kasiisi family was, by far, the loudest in the crowd and we’re still overwhelmed with happiness and pride. Congratulations, Reagan, Gloria, Daphine, and Gorret!
We would like you to further congratulate spelling bee participant Daphine. Daphine just graduated from Kasiisi Primary School in December where she participated in debate club, was a member of the winning Music, Dance and Drama (MDD) team, and as discussed above competed in Uganda’s national competition in Kampala. On top of an incredible final year of primary school, Daphine is one of our new Kasiisi Project Scholars and started Kyebambe Secondary School this week. Congratulations, Daphine!
