Girl Stars are extraordinary tales of ordinary girls who changed their lives by going to school. A set of 15 books sent to government schools will inspire millions of young girls to go to school.
Girls education is of primary importance to the development of India, and yet, there is still a major gender disparity between the enrollment and retention of girls in school. The female literacy rates for Uttar Pradesh (42.2%), Rajasthan (44.34%) and Bihar (33.1%) are far below the national average (53.7%) (Source: Census of India, 2001).
Girls Stars are extraordinary stories of ordinary girls who have changed their lives by going to school. They are real stories of 15 girls who worked hard to change their lives. The stories will inspire young girls to go to school & stay in school.
Girl Stars aims to positively change families’ attitudes towards the benefit of education & the potential impact girls have in the lives of their families. Thereby, increasing girls enrollment in schools & reducing school dropout rate of girls.
