Through media and technology, Girl Effect helps girls to understand, value and make life-changing choices for themselves. Choices that help girls to take control of their health, their education and their ability to earn. In the midst of a global pandemic, girls are feeling more vulnerable and the call for change has never been louder. This is a moment for us to change the conversation around and girls and put girls at the centre.
Billions of dollars have been invested in services for girls. From sexual health and family planning to education, immunisation and nurturing female entrepreneurship. Services are available but despite large, young populations, they are often underutilised. Why? Because millions of girls do not see these services as being "for them".
Girl Effect is "the bridge". Connecting girls on one side, to services on the other. We motivate girls to want to "cross the bridge" to seek out services that help them take control. Working through radio, TV, print, digital, mobile, AI-powered chatbots, and in-person clubs we meet girls where they are with content that is relatable, fun & reflects their realities and offer a personal experience that is safe and informative, supporting and encouraging girls every step of the way.
To change the world for girls, we need to work with girls. When a girl unlocks her power to think, feel and act differently, her behaviour changes and that inspires other girls to behave differently too, changing how they are perceived and treated by society.
