Story of Kavitha
My name is Kavitha and I have four siblings, two elder sisters are married and two younger sisters who are pursuing their studies at Yalburga Taluk, Koppal District. My family is very poor. I lost my father when i was studying at class 5th, thereafter my mother took responsibility on her shoulder to lead and guide all of us. When I was at home I was not regular to school and wasting my time at home. Seeing this condition my grandfather had put me to NCL (National Child Labour Programme) at Don Bosco Hospet in 2009 for class 3rd. Meanwhile I had so many personal conflicts within me especially loss of my beloved father. I spent One year NLCP at Don Bosco bridge school later I was joined to Govt School at Hospet and staying in Don Bosco Rural Girls Hostel. During those years of my life, it was really colourful days because I participated in dances, Singing and Drams etc which gave me the self-confidence and happiness in my life to go ahead. In the year 2016 I completed my SSLC with 73%. Now I am studying 2nd PUC in Theosophical College at Hospet. I am confident to secure good marks in 2nd PUC exams. I wanted to do KAS exams in the future. Though I am very poor yet with support of sponsors from Global Giving I am able to continue my studies and I want to reach my goal in life. I will never forget the care and support which BREADS is rendering for my growth.
During this reporting period we received USD 775.92 (INR 47988.48) from global giving for the project which was exclusively used for the education, food, clothes and education materials of the poor girl children. About 24 rescued child labourers have completed their remedial education from Don Bosco rehabilitation centres readmitted in formal schools and continuing their formal education.
The children are regularly followed up by Don Bosco/BREADS staff in order to ensure their continuity in schools and improve education standard. One parents meetings was organized during the year and request the parental support to assure the retention of the children in schools and monitor the study progress in the school. The children were also motivated to join the evening tuition classes started in their villages by BREADS and use the facility to improve their education standard and do the school assignment with the help of mentors.
The support from the donors through Global Giving platform was really a grace for the less privileged girl children, which assured quality education and a better life. The children and parents here by express their happiness and gratitude to all the donors and well-wishers through GlobalGiving Platform.
We have updated the existing project by increasing the budget to ensure the continuity of the education of 144 girl children.
BREADS thankfully acknowledge the valuable support through GlobalGiving which helped the poor girl children to have a bright future.
A Big Thank You from all of us here!!!
