Successful partnership with GlobalGiving and BREADS for educating girl children
Dear Donors,
Greetings from BREADS Bangalore!
The 144 poor girl children from North Karnataka region have successfully completed one more year of their studies. The examination is over and the results have come. We are in proud to say that 100% of the supported children have successfully passed the examinations with good grade. In the month of May BREADS had organized summer camps in various places of North Karnataka for these children to enhance their soft skills and talents. This year the camp focused the theme of “Child Rights” through which hundreds of children were made aware of their rights and duties. All the sponsored girl children have attended the camps along with other children from the localities. The camps gave them opportunities for mutual learning, sharing their experience, exhibiting their talents and creativity and learn the soft and life coping skills from experts. The children learned, enjoyed and have grown in confidence, nurtured the values of team spirit and improved their interpersonal relationship. The following are some of the activities conducted during the camp: building leadership qualities, youth parliament, importance of education and child participation, health and sanitation and personality development classes.
This is the approach of Don Bosco for educating the children through preventive system of education.
During this reporting period we were assured USD 941(INR 60500) for our project. We used this money exclusively for the education, food, clothes and education materials of the poor girl children. About 24 children who were rescued from child labour situation have completed their one year remedial education at Don Bosco rehabilitation centres and others have successfully completed one more academic year. All cleared their examinations and assessment tests and were promoted to the next level of class.
The children are regularly followed up by Don Bosco/BREADS staff in order to ensure their continuity in schools and improve education standard. Three meetings were organized during this reporting period for the children and their parents in their localities in order to give orientation for children and parents on the importance of education. The children also shared their experiences and feedback in the presence of their parents during these monthly get-together meetings.
GlobalGiving platform was really a blessing for the less privileged girl children as the financial support helped them to regain their right to education and childhood. The excellent performance in studies of these children is the evidence of their gratitude and happiness for the generous support from various donors and well-wishers through GlobalGiving Platform.
The children and BREADS wholeheartedly acknowledge your generous support through GlobalGiving which helped the poor girl children to have a bright future.
A Big Thank You from all of us here!!!
