Greetings from BREADS Bangalore!
The financial support from you through GlobalGiving has helped us to support 144 poor girl children from North Karnataka region for continuing their formal education. In the months of March and April the children are busy with their final examinations/assessment tests and all have successfully completed one more year of their education. In the month of May BREADS had organized special summer camps for this children to enhance the soft skills and talents of the children. The camps were conducted in different localities and all the sponsored girl children have attended the camps along with other children from the localities. The camps gave them opportunities for mutual learning, sharing their experience, exhibiting their talents and creativity and learn the soft and life coping skills from experts. The children learned, enjoyed and have grown in confidence, nurture the values of team spirit and improve their interpersonal relationship. This is the approach of Don Bosco for educating the children through preventive system of education.
During this reporting period we were assured USD 1176 (INR 72728) for our project. We will use this money exclusively for the education, food, clothes and education materials of the poor girl children. About 12 children who were rescued from child labour situation have completed their one year remedial education from Don Bosco rehabilitation centres and others are successfully completed one more academic year. All were cleared their examinations and assessment tests and upgrade to the next level classes.
The children are regularly followed up by Don Bosco/BREADS staff in order to ensure their continuity in schools and improved education standard. Three meetings were organized during this reporting period for the children and parents in their localities in order to give orientation for children and parents on the importance of education. The children will also share their experiences and feelings in front of their parents during these monthly get together meetings.
The support received from you through GlobalGiving platform was really a grace for the less privileged girl children to regain their right to education and childhood. All the children expressed their gratitude and happiness for what they have received from your generous hands.
