Thank you for supporting our dreams!

Dear Donors,

Greetings from BREADS Bangalore!

We are happy to present our updated report for your support to educate the girl children who were rescued from child labour and other vulnerable situations. The 144 poor girl children have successfully completed one more year in their studies. The examinations were over by March 2019. Two months (April and May) were holidays for these children and we organised number of summer camps and other programmes in different places to engage these children in creative actions and their integral development. Summer camps conducted not only for the girl children supported by you but for all the children in the villages. The camp was organised for a minimum of 15 days and organised many programmes like sessions on child rights, talent promotion , special coaching in Spoken English and Computer skills, personality development classes, life skill sessions along with games, entertainment, group building exercise and sports activities. Nutritious foods were served for all the children during these camps

The new school academic year was started in the month of June 2019. We are happy to inform you that all our children were performed well in their final examinations and up graded to the higher classes. We have given new uniforms, books and stationeries for all the children to pursue their studies. The children who are getting education support from GlobalGiving have expressed their gratitude and thanks for the education support given to them. It is true that without your generous support these children may be denied their rights to education and become wage earners in an early age.

During this reporting period we have received INR 4,39,143.48 from GlobalGiving for the project which was exclusively used for the education, food, clothes and education materials of the poor girl children. This year also we have rescued many children from child labour situation and admitted in our rehabilitation centres. All the children who completed the bridge school was also admitted in formal schools and continue their education We will extend the education support to these children also at the same time to stop the support for few children who completed the class X and eligible for higher studies. There are many scholarships available for girl children for higher studies.

The major activities organized for the children during the reporting period were:

  • Summer Camps in all the centres
  • Sports & Music Classes
  • World Environment Day observation on June 2019
  • Shaale Kade Nanna Nade Campaign- An initiative of school enrolment campaign for all the school dropouts
  • Me and my vote are not for sale Campaign

The children are regularly followed up by Don Bosco/BREADS staff in order to ensure their continuity in schools and improve education standard. The children were instructed to join the evening tuition classes started in their villages by BREADS and use the facility to improve their education standard and do the school assignment with the help of mentors.

BREADS along with the children thankfully acknowledge the valuable support through GlobalGiving which helped the poor girl children to have a brighter future. Thank you for all.
