By Fr. Joy Nedumparambil | Executive Director, BREADS, Bangalore

We thank you very much !
We thank you very much !

Dear Donors,Greetings from BREADS Bangalore!

We are in the middle of one more academic year and 144 poor girl children are being pursued their formal education with enthusiasm and encouragement all through support from GlobalGiving. The children who are getting education support from GlobalGiving are studying well, enjoying their school with confidence and self esteem. The opportunity they got for their studies are being utilized maximum to excel in their academic studies and make it a model for other girl children in their villages. In addition to the formal education support, the children were also undergone various life coaching programmes to enhance their life coping skills, nurturing the values of team spirit and improve the interpersonal relationship.

During this reporting period we have received INR 56,415.49 from GlobalGiving for the project which was exclusively used for the education, food, clothes and education materials of the poor girl children. All the rescued child labourers have completed their remedial education from Don Bosco rehabilitation centres continuing their formal education in the nearby schools.

The major activities organized for the children during the reporting period are:

  • Teacher’s day was celebrated on 5th September 2018, to honor the teachers.
  • The World Cleanup Day was observed in many of the schools on September 15th 2018. The children from Don Bosco Institutions have also actively participated by conducting clean up campaigns, cleaning the houses and surroundings of their village and schools, etc. The programme not only instills the message but also encouraged the children to participate in social activities.
  • Gandhi Jayanti- on October 2nd the children remembered Mahatma Gandhi the father of the nation.
  • The National Girl Child Day was observed on October 11, 2018. The day was celebrated to increase the awareness among people about all the inequalities faced by the girl child in the society
  • Children’s day was celebrated on November 14th in all Don Bosco Institutions and schools with lots of cultural programmes and fun games. Our children also took part in various events organized as part of the children’s day
  • Diwali is festival of colours and celebrations. The children celebrated it with lots of programmes in their villages with new dress, sharing gifts, etc.

The children are regularly followed up by Don Bosco/BREADS staff in order to ensure their continuity in schools and improve education standard. One parents meetings was organized during the reporting period and request the parental support to assure the retention of the children in schools and monitor the study progress in the school. The children were also motivated to join the evening tuition classes started in their villages by BREADS and use the facility to improve their education standard and do the school assignment with the help of mentors.

BREADS thankfully acknowledge the valuable support through GlobalGiving which helped the poor girl children to have a brighter future.

Thank you for all !

We, the BREADS Family wish you a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year in Advance
