Girl Child Education

By K.C.PANT | SECRETARY & CEO

During th quarter, as per the government revised guidelines of COVID-19 teachers are allowed to attend the school on regular basis but continue to teach through online mode.   (with proper mask, keeping proper physical distance with properly sanitizing classrooms.  But again in the middle of April ,lockdwon imposed  due to second wave of COVID 19 and the government ordered closure of all educational institutions. But teachers started taking online classes during this period. Due to  non availability of mobiles and other recharge issues some students faced problems to regularly attend online classes. Through basic phone also teachers talkiing to  the students  teaching the lessons. Hope by next month the situtaion improves and students are able attend classes.  During this crisis students were also given dry ration kits which helped the families during the crisis.

Rifa is a brilliant girl studying in class 6th in Rasta School. She has 5 sisters and 1 brother. Her father Harun is a hawker (Cloth Seller ) and her mother Afsana is a housewife. 9 years ago Harun came to Khora in search of Job  because  of his poor financial condition in village.  As he was totally illiterate, he couldn’t find any job also .He started working as a laborer and later hired a Cart for selling clothes. His earnings was too low and to meet the daily needs of his family was his top priority. Education of his children was a distant dream for him.

CASE STUDY

During a community survey, our teachers met Harun and came to know about the family. They told about Rasta School and the facilities the children are getting there for quality education. Earlier Harun was very reluctant, but our teachers motivated and counseled and succeeded to enroll Harun’s 4 daughters in Rasta School. For children this was a dream coming true

In the beginning Rifa and her sisters faced a lot of problems to understand the things. But teaching through  TLMS  simplified and made their leanings very interesting.  Now they are very good in their academics and actively participate in all extra-curricular activities.

Now  Harun’s all 5 daughters are studying in Rasta School (Muskan -10th class, Mustazareen – 8th ,Anam & Rifa – 6th, and Rahnuma -3rd class ).According to Harun all this happened due to the regular efforts and motivation  from School. He says “only because of Rasta School I could change my thoughts and took a decision  to educate my girls for their better future”
