His father is a daily wage labourer and works hard to make a living for the family of 5 with a small income of Rs 3000 per month.

It has been rightly said that, ‘Success comes to those who tirelessly work for it.’ Manohar is a perfect example of it. Once Manohar was sitting among his friends and learnt about the electrical training course run by Literacy India for skill building in youth at its Lowkui centre in West Bengal. He always looks for opportunities in skill building for earning livelihood and on learning about the course from his friends, he became inquisitive to know about it. Later, he joined training in the Literacy india centre and diligently worked. Under the course, he developed sound understanding on First Aid, Basics of Electrical Engineering, Wiring instruments, accessories, cable wire joining, wiring system –house and circuit, wiring test and estimation etc.

With time, his interest developed much in the subject and develop proficiency in the technical skills learnt. Post completing his course of 5 months, he started working with an electrician and does the work of house wiring in the Baghmundi area. Skills learnt in electrical training, now made him earn a living of Rs 3000-4,000 a month.
