Literacy India since 1996 as a non-profit organization had been educating underprivileged women and children, and empowering them to become self-reliant and employable. It can rightly be synonymized with three very powerful words: Education, Empowerment, and Employment.
Vidyapeeth is the core program at Literacy India (LI) which aims at making quality education available and affordable to the underprivileged lot. This initiative of Literacy India runs classes up to high school like any other school. The beneficiaries come from the lowest economic and social strata of the society, and many of them are first generation learners. At Vidyapeeth, the students are provided holistic education by a ‘learning by doing ‘approach using projects and practical training.
While making quality education available to the marginalized children is at the core of Literacy India’s mission, it is also important to provide this education with a purpose. And that purpose is to make the youth in our communities employable.
Vidyapeeth students selected for a course in Mechatronics by the Kiki Centre for Technology
Satyam and Amarjeet, two students from the Vidyapeeth School, have been selected and given scholarship fee of Rs.4.85 lakh for the three and a half years programme in Mechatronics by the Kiki Centre for Technology. Acknowledged as one of the best training systems in the World, the Kiki Centre for Technology offers a work-study model, where students learn simultaneously at the institute and also at a company.
Vidyapeeth has always believed in ‘Learning by Doing’ and has been mentoring its students in project-based activities in their areas of interest. Satyam and Amarjeet were selected because of the training they received at Vidyapeeth. Satyam and Amarjeet were inclined towards science education and have been engaged in various project-based learning activities at Vidyapeeth over the years of their study here. After scoring more than 70% in the entrance test, these children went through various personal interviews before they were selected for the long-term course in Mechatronics.
