Every 1 in 1000 children suffers from a degree of hearing and speech impairment. In fact, it is frightening to imagine starting a life as an infant in a soundless world. To such, words make no sense, only signs may. However, sign languages come with a limitation as both the conversant need to know how to use them and thus disability in form of dependency stays with them throughout their life.
Dhvani – an early intervention programme is aimed at addressing hearing impairment at an early stage of life, so hearing and speech impaired children can talk like any normal child and learn with regular schools making them 100% free of their disability. It means no dependency on sign language. They can listen and speak like normal children do.
Save The Children India is keen to help 10 children with Cochlear Implant Surgeries this year out of which 7 have been identified and undergoing the pre-implant interventions with the child nad families.
Support from you has helped us assit a child with theraputic interventions and we lookforward to your continued support.
Thank you
