Awareness in various ways

By Jignesh Christi | Project Leader

Dear well-wishers,

Regards from Gram Vikas Trust, Bharuch.

In this project report GVT wants to share about different awareness programs done by our colleagues. In some of the villages, GVT has run street awareness gathering of parents whose children are studying in primary and higher secondary education. And there is a huge appreciation from the villagers and some of the important stakeholders, as they felt that it was really helpful for them.

Working in the rural areas of Jhagadia block of Bharuch district, GVT knows that there are still many parents who do not give importance to higher education. With support of some schools, and likeminded people GVT tried to gift education to many girls, but many more girls are still there who are not able to study after 8th standard.

In the parents gathering GVT tried to convey a simple message, through different local level examples. What are the benefits of educating girls and boys, and what will be the challenges for them if the parents failed to educate their children especially the girls. GVT believes that parents are the first teachers for their children, and if they can influence their children in their primary schooling than it will really help the children to dream about education. It is the culture that can influence the children, whether it is about home or village. Parents only can change the behavior of the children towards education.

In this gathering GVT could able to sensitize some of the parents through different examples, parents were able to understand and realize the current situation without education, and also some of the parents have added that they will not just support their children, but they will try to transfer their dreams into their children.

Let us come together for the awareness so that the parents and children can receive the gift of education.
