We would like to use this opportunity to give details about Akshara Yagnam /Study Centers which was stqrted
Sphoorti has initiated study centres for the children residing in slums and remote rural areas wherein little few resources of educational facilities. At present 1350 children in 5 centres are getting tutoring support. The timings of these centres are 6.00 to 8.00 pm. The majority of the children attending these centres are from migrant families, daily wage labour, and working children from poor economic backgrounds. These centres are located at Tirupati and Madanapalli areas of Andhra Pradesh.
At the after-school service, we support children by providing tutors who spend time in the evenings with the children and help them with home assignments and clarifying doubts they might have in their lessons. There is also an in-house mentoring system - elder children act guides for younger children and new inmates. These mentors also train the kids on habits and procedures followed at Sphoorti.
