Executive Summary

The "Save Innocent Birds Trapped in Deadly Nets" project in Bangladesh, initiated by the Green Fund Initiative in March 2024, has continued its vital work in bird rescue and community education. Between December 2024 and March 2025, the project expanded its efforts despite ongoing financial and logistical challenges. During this period, we successfully conducted 12 rescue operations, saving 41 birds, and deepened our engagement with local communities to promote sustainable and bird-friendly practices. Our focus remains on advocating for safer fishing practices, increasing public awareness, and strengthening our rescue and rehabilitation capabilities.

 Key Activities and Accomplishments

• Rescue Operations: Conducted 12 rescue missions, successfully saving 41 trapped birds from hazardous fishing nets.
• Community Outreach: Organized 4 community meetings, engaging 60 fish farmers, and distributed over 150 educational leaflets to raise awareness.
• Volunteer Expansion: Trained 10 new volunteers to assist in bird rescue and community education initiatives.
• Temporary Rehabilitation Facility: Strengthened our temporary facility with improved care provisions for injured birds.

 Challenges

• Financial Constraints: Limited funding continues to restrict the development of a permanent rehabilitation facility.
• Community Hesitation: Some local fish farmers remain resistant to changing traditional fishing methods.
• Infrastructure Limitations: The temporary care center is still insufficient to provide comprehensive treatment for all rescued birds.

Future Plans

• Establish a permanent rehabilitation center to improve long-term care for rescued birds.
• Increase volunteer training and recruitment to enhance rescue operations.
• Expand community awareness programs, including workshops and school partnerships.
• Strengthen local partnerships to secure additional resources and financial support.

 Conclusion

The Green Fund Initiative has made meaningful progress in rescuing trapped birds and educating local communities about sustainable practices. Despite ongoing financial and logistical hurdles, the project remains committed to its mission. Moving forward, we will prioritize securing funds for a dedicated treatment center and amplifying our community outreach efforts to further reduce bird entanglement incidents in Bangladesh.
