Everybody's Got To Eat, And Cats Need Shelter, Too!

By Guardians Team | Project Leader

Oh, Happy Treat Day!
Oh, Happy Treat Day!

Dear Friend of Guardians of Rescue,

We are back to share some of the outreach we've done for animals in need over the past few months.

Anyone with a pet knows that the costs of food and other pet supplies adds up quickly. When someone with a well-loved dog or cat finds themselves unable to afford these essentials, they need help quickly. Because you support Guardians, we are able to ride to the rescue, ensuring that these pets are well-fed and their humans relieved of the stress and worry that their animal companions will go without.

Recently we made these life-sustaining food deliveries in multiple locations. At the Shinnicock Community Center, in Long Island, NY, families came out to happily accept food for their dogs. We also brought food out to the seniors who couldn't get to the Center. Thanks to the Guardians—and you—many more dogs were able to be fed regularly.

In this community, a lot of the dogs live outside. Guardians will come out and help put up secure pens and cozy dog houses to help get these dogs off of their previous chains, and let them live in a much more comfortable situation. We have contructed these kennels in many areas where dogs are kept outside. In those situations we do as much for the dogs as the owers will permit. Sometimes they can be persuaded to let the dogs come inside, and sometimes we have even gotten dogs surrendered and have rehomed them in a better situation.

We also visited South Philadelphia and Newark, where residents with dogs in need gratefully accepted gifts of food which will keep their pets' bellies full till our next visit, all made possible by our caring donors like you.

Guardians doesn't forget about the feral or community cats living outside in all types of weather. We build and place insulated cat shelters for their protection, and feed colonies, which are dependent on human support.

The need never ends, and as long as Guardians has the help of many caring people, we will be able to support animals in need with food, supplies, protective shelter, veterinary care and their other necessities.

We never forget who makes this work possible, and in an important way, you are there with us on each delivery of food and hope to animals in need. Thank you!

Together we feed and shelter them,

Together we heal them,

Together we save them,

Guardians of Rescue
