The recent military attacks on the Gaza Strip have caused many families to leave their homes and take refuge in UNRWA schools or at other family homes. Other families have lost their homes and their shops completely due to the bombings, while others sustained damages to their homes as a result of nearby bombings. The project seeks to provide urgent relief for those families to get them through this difficult times.
On the 10th of May military attacks by Israel against Gaza Strip began. The intensive bombardment targeted civilian homes and towers, which caused high numbers of casualties. The latest numbers by the health ministry report 200 people killed, including 59 children and 35 women; 1305 have been injured. UNRWA schools prepared to host 40,000 of the families forcibly displaced as a result of the ongoing attacks. The project will provide much needed and urgent support for the displaced families.
The project will provide the displaced families with the necessary and urgent support (food, water, medical kits, clothes) during this difficult time. As such it will ensure that the displaced families still have access to food, water and basic medical kits (including face-masks) as well as toiletries. This will help avoid malnutrition and diseases resulting from lack of accessibility to safe and clean hygiene in overcrowded shelters and homes.
The project will support at least 10,000 families in shelters to focus on re-building their lives again by providing the essentials needed during this difficult time of military attacks and displacement.
