As cement remains unavailable in Gaza, we are shifting from permanent Baytna Homes to Gaza Darna Shelters built with materials available now. Construction is underway on first five 45 sq.m shelters- soon 5 families will move in! These transitional shelters include kitchenette & bathroom, lockable doors, interlocking brick floors, and zynkom walls designed to keep out rodents and intruders. Help build Gaza Darna Shelters, a critical step beyond tent living- bigger, stronger, built to last longer.
In Gaza, nearly two million people were forced from their homes into fragile tents and tarps. Wind tears through the fabric, rain and sewage flood the ground, and mice and rats contaminate food and spread disease. Families need dry, secure shelter with privacy and sanitation. Because the need is overwhelming, priority goes to families with orphans, elderly, injured or disabled, or single mothers. Families must also have their own enclosed land where shelters can be built for the long-term.
Gaza Darna Shelters provide rapid, life-saving shelter for displaced families. Built with durable plastic "leather," and zynkom walls (corrosion-resistant, zinc-aluminum coated steel sheeting), shelters are weather-resistant, quick to assemble, and designed for immediate protection and stability. Our first five in Nuseirat are connected to the city sewage system! Each costs $15K. We ask your help to pay for the first shelters and build 30 more, putting Gazans back to work creating better housing
Gaza Darna Shelters bridge emergency relief and long-term recovery by providing immediate, safe shelter that improves health conditions and begins to restore dignity and stability during crisis, These protect against weather exposure, damp ground, and rodents. As the program expands, it reflects growing global solidarity and care for displaced families. The initiative supports a pathway toward permanent housing and stronger community recovery, helping families rebuild with resilience and hope.
