The Lingkabau Reserve teems with wildlife, from clouded leopards to civets. Neighboring it is the village of Gana, a community born out of forced relocation when ancestral lands were seized. This tenacious community faces poverty and scarce services while working to improve their lives. Yet they protect the Reserve, which secures water, prevents flooding, and connects nature reserves. With your aid we can restore their storm-damaged greenhouses critical for villagers meal and income sources.
The village of Gana has been using greenhouses over the past years as a way to produce crops year round. This was given to them by Seacology, at their direction, in exchange for the protection of the nearby natural preserve. Recently, tropical storms have damaged the greenhouses, throwing one of the communities more consistent income and food generating endeavors to be put in jeopardy.
As we already have an existing relationship with the community, Seacology is best positioned to provide a $1,000 USD grant to repair the greenhouses and replace lost plants. With the greenhouses restored, the Gana community can resume yearlong harvests that will provide food and income to them, empowering them to protect the natural preserve nearby.
With the Greenhouses restored, Gana village will have reliable income and food streams. This will give them time and energy to protect the environment around them while investing in their community to further develop it sustainably.
