Challenge

Educational inequity in Kazakhstan is driven by teacher shortages, high staff turnover, and unequal access to strong role models, safe learning environments, and opportunities for growth - especially in regional and socially challenging schools. Many schools focus on immediate challenges rather than long-term student development, limiting opportunities for children to build confidence, strengthen academic skills, participate in extracurricular activities, and believe in their future.

Solution

TFQ recruits and trains future leaders to teach for 2 years in regional/socially challenging schools, working directly with children and school communities. Fellows go through a rigorous selection process, intensive teacher preparation, and ongoing coaching. Scholarship support covers living expenses, meals, and transportation, allowing Fellows to fully commit to their training. Through this model, Fellows support students' growth and become role models in communities that need them most.

Long-Term Impact

Students become more engaged in learning, and more likely to believe in their future. They gain stronger academic support, extracurricular opportunities, and role models who expand their sense of what is possible. Beyond the 2-year Fellowship, TFQ alumni continue driving long-term change in education as leaders, educators, policymakers, and advocates for educational equity. Over time, this creates a growing community of leaders working to reduce educational inequity across Kazakhstan.
