We started with the wonderful news of the award of the Special Olympics World Games Santiago 2027, a unique opportunity to generate a profound impact on our society. Later, our athletes participated in the raising of the flag in the Plaza de la Ciudadanía, shoulder to shoulder with Olympians and Paralympians, showing the country the true value of sport.
In October, the largest delegation in our history returned from the Asunción 2024 Latin American Games with 29 medals. And in November, our athletes were the protagonists of an unprecedented recognition: they were received in La Moneda by President Gabriel Boric, a gesture that underlines the transformative impact we are generating as a community.
The road to the World Games not only fills us with enthusiasm, but also challenges us to profoundly transform our society. We have three years to move towards a country where people with disabilities are “seen” and can be protagonists in their lives. We aim to foster a vision of rights, create sustainable opportunities in sports, education and health, and break down barriers that perpetuate discrimination.
We look forward to a year 2025 full of new opportunities to continue walking together towards the World Games in Santiago 2027.
