The city of Asuncion in Paraguay will host the next Special Olympics Latin American Games from October 1-15, 2024. Athletes will compete in 14 Olympic-type sports and 4 exhibition sports.
These Latin American Games will be a dream come true for the more than 400,000 Special Olympics athletes from Latin America who have been waiting for this event. The Games represent not only a sporting event but also a very important social platform for education and awareness.
It is important that these young people can be seen from the perspective of ability and not disability. Sport is a powerful tool for inclusion and social development. Today Paraguay is being an example for the continent and the world of what can be achieved through sport when a government is committed to its population.
