Yaowawit School, Farm and Lodge were badly damaged by the heavy rains, floods, and landslides. This devastation has disrupted our school activities and the lives of 138 children and 15 teachers. The three buildings of our school, dormitories and learning facilities are in need of an urgent rebuilding and restoration in order to resume our education services. With your generosity, we will be able to fix the damage to the school and restore comfort to the lives of our children.
In late August 2018, the landslides caused by heavy rains have hit Yaowawit school --- land, rocks, and debris plummet down the side of a mountain and took out most of the grounds our school buildings once stood firmly upon. These destructive forces of nature have disrupted our school activities and the lives of 138 children and 15 teachers which are now sheltered at a temple nearby the school, as the buildings are not yet safe and secure for the children to return.
With your generosity, we will be able to fix the damage to the school and restore comfort to the lives of our children. We will build a retaining and shortcrete wall to stabilize the land and prevent further disaster. We are in need as well to repair two of our learning facilities. After a geotechnical engineering evaluation of our land and damages, the total cost is evaluated at $22 000. The expenses will include materials, manual labor and machinery.
As soon as our buildings and land will be restored and secured, we would resume our daily learning activities and education services to the children and local community of Phang Nga. We kindly ask you to spread the words of loving kindness, and to help us rebuild our school, then it will be once again safe and a place we proudly called Home Sweet Home.
