Dear Friend,
As the year marches on, The Solidarity Project supports Honduran community leaders to select, design, and begin their projects to improve their communities despite the global pandemic, economic downturn, and the impact of natural disasters. Our partners are launching back into action to help build a Honduras where they can thrive and see their communities prosper and grow.
Over this year, The Solidarity Project has also worked with a very special cohort of interns selected through our Rural Women’s Leadership Initiative, developed in partnership with a US foundation, to promote women's participation and action in community projects in four of our partner communities. At present, we have interns from this initiative in the communities of La Majada Verde, Coa Abajo, Soroguara and El Aguacatal, Honduras.
This first cohort of Rural Women Leadership Interns play an important role in providing support to our partners, and they help us see the completion and advancement of complex community projects that have many partners, donors and contributors. All the Rural Women Interns have also taken all of our Community Health Volunteer training in basic and advanced first aid, and they manage the use of the sustainable community pharmacy kits in their communities. By investing in women and having them take on more prominent roles in community development, we hope to positively impact perceptions and counter cultural machismo beliefs that can limit many women and girls in Honduras.
This year, with your support, our project director and community interns have helped advance or complete the following projects:

We want to thank you for your support and solidarity with Honduran community leaders and our work in partnership with them. Your contributions help Honduran leaders and communities materialize dreams for they have had for their communities and families for many years. When we work in partnership so many amazing things can happen, and as we have seen recently, it even inspires others to collaborate and contribute to get larger projects completed! We look forward to keeping you updated on our work throughout 2021 and beyond.
Stay safe & take care,
The Solidarity Project Team
