Nein, a resident from Kompong Speu province, has been coming to get treatment at Sihanouk Hospital Center of HOPE (SHCH) for five years. She was first admitted to the medical ward at SHCH when she was sixty-two due to several problems such as hypoxia, mild congestive heart failure (CHF), pneumonia, hypokalemia, severe tricuspid regurgitation (TR), and atrial septal defect (ASD). Now at sixty-seven, Nein has two adorable granddaughters who are still in their kindergarten. Her only son is a fruit seller.
In 2016, Nein stayed at SHCH’s medical ward for four days. Before being admitted to SHCH, she experienced fever, chest tightness, fatigue, shortage of breath, and epigastric pain for four days. She was discharged after getting better since her pneumonia and hypokalemia were resolved. She then had been coming for her follow-up once every three months, and she still had some problems related to chest pain and shortage of breath. Notwithstanding, she got a lot better on her fourth follow-up with no more symptoms. Her current diagnosis is severe tricuspid regurgitation and atrial septal defect. As she is doing well, she only has to meet a doctor one time in three months.
Nein said, “I am glad that I am doing better now with a healthy look. I am able to make food and look after my granddaughters easily right now. Thanks to all the donors, I could get good treatment and medications. I pray that all of my donors will be healthy and strong to continue to support another patient more in the future. I also would like to say thank you to all doctors and nurses who have been so kind and attentive to me. With all this help, I now have much more energy to live on.”
