A factory worker who went to find a job in a neighboring country found himself had a Congestive Heart Failure at 38 years old. Sopheakdey and his wife worked in a factory in Thailand for more than two years to support his family in Battambang, Cambodia. They have an eleven years old daughter who is currently studying in her fifth grade.
While working in Thailand, he felt too exhausted, which is not normal for him; therefore, he and his wife quit the job and perceive treatment at home. Arriving home, he visited the nearest clinic at home and spent a substantial amount of money. He could no longer support his medical expenses, so he had to sell all of his farm animals and even his house to cover it. Additionally, he also loans his siblings more money to spend on treatment. He had still not got better after the fifth visit to the clinic. That is when his neighbors suggested that he should come to Sihanouk Hospital Center of HOPE for most of the people who visit SHCH recovered faster.
Upon arriving at SHCH, he had difficulty breathing and pain in the chest because his heart was beating so fast. The doctor confirmed that he had Congestive Heart Failure and Anemia. After admitted to Medical Ward at SHCH for four days, he is making good progress toward recovering. He and his wife uttered, “We would like to express our gratitude towards SHCH’s donor. Thanks to the subsidized treatment, along with caring doctors and nurses, we see hope. We are excited to go back home for our family reunion once again this soon.”
