Caminamos Juntos’ participants have shared their educational expectations and their dreams with us. Most of them did not have the opportunity to even think about continuing their education or a college degree when they were working in the US and building their families. And prior to leaving for the US, they were unable to complete high school because they needed to work to support their family, could not afford the costs of books, uniforms and supplies, or needed to join family and/or to work by migrating to the US.
This project has provided a new perspective on the possibilities, reduced costs and resources available in Mexico, allowing them to make the greatest impact on their lives and on their community that were not readily available to them in the United States.
The Education Coordinator, Ariel Diaz, has been not only providing assistance in accessing different opportunities but also supporting them with motivation, counseling and a personal and tailored approach called their "Life Plan" that contributes to a more holistic plan and goals.
