Latika Roy Foundation's Early Intervention Centre (EIC) is for very young children with developmental delays. The earlier we start working with children, the better they do. At EIC we work with children from birth to six and their families. We encourage their overall development, enhance their abilities to the full and help them circumvent their disability. All our programs are activity-based, with the emphasis on learning through play.
Kids born with a disability need extra help to learn. In India, most families lack the knowledge and skills to give their children that added boost. Social stigma and ignorance about their potential even prevents parents from sending them to school, further stunting their growth and normal development.
The EIC provides family-based intervention services to children from birth to six with multiple disabilities. Once a child is enrolled, we design an individual program based on their needs. Our multidisciplinary team of therapists, special educators and counsellors sets goals for the year and uses evidence-based strategies to achieve them. The child's family are part of the process at every step.
While the short-term benefits of early intervention may not be seen immediately, the long-term ones are amazing: Children develop life skills for success and most need fewer intervention services as they grow up. Early intervention can make it possible for kids to cope with mainstream school and eventually contribute to the growth and economy of the country.
