Happy Thankgiving Holiday
By Linda Acen Abili | Project director
The Onura wood clay stoves will save several lives and fight deforestation and climate change in south Sudan and worldwide.
The women running "Onura fuel efficiency clay stove project", have been meeting a lot of obstacles in running this life-saving activity due to lack of money in these recent months. But because this is life and death the local women are determined to keep the project going. They managed to set up two groups, and purchased 100 plastic sheeting to cover clay stoves with the funding they received from our Globalgiving donors.
Quote from a beneficiary;
Clay stoves are our healthy and clean environment – we will do everything we can to help ourselves, and the environment.
We take this opportunity to thanks our Globalgiving donors for their ongoing support, and we look forward in working with them in 2011, and years to come.
The staff of Hope ofiriha, and I wishes you a Happy Thanksgiving Holiday season, your family, friends, and colleagues!

Clay stove - made our trainee Ayaa Rose
This project started well but due to donations short coming two women have to stop their training in the middle of the course. Your donations have made us come a long way.
Most local Kitchens in Omilling Sudan can be simple be described as indoor dangerous fires. The smoke from these fires is so harmful that lower respiratory diseases are the most leading cause of illness among women. The escalating demand of firewood in Magwi County population leads to destruction of local forests.
On June 16 2010 GlobalGiving will be matching at 50% all online donations up to 1,000 per donor per project! This campaign runs between 12:00 am and 11:59 pm EST (GMT-4).
In addition to the 50% match, GlobalGiving will be offering a $1,000 bonus to the project that raises the most funds that same day a $1,000 bonus to the project that receives donations from most individual donors!
We are encouraging you to make a donation on June 16 to take this opportunity of the matching funds in order to help Poor Sudanese women in Omilling villages to make the fuel efficiency wood burning clay to improve their lives, families, and ongoing incomes from the sale of clay stoves - and finally get them out of extreme poverty and live a healthier life.
Thanks for your ongoing support!

A woman from ONURA sub village has been selected to receive training as “a trainer” in wood burning clay stove in Kampala. The duration of the course is three months and she has undergone the training for two months but had to stop due lack of funding. We hope our supporters will do their best in helping us in training more women. After training the trainer will go to ONURA sub village Sudan and set up training camps to train local women.
Once again thanks for helping us in this worthwhile project and we look forward that you will be with us until the project is completed. We will every three months provide you with an update from the field.
Have a good summer!
